Ardgartan
The Riverside Trail follows the Croe Water through beech and oak woodland towards Loch Long. Families can take a woodland and riverside walk, looking for squirrels, birds and signs of otters.
Before you go
The 1.5-mile Riverside Trail is moderate. Expect uneven or very muddy sections, exposed roots, two short steep slopes, a bridge and broad steps. Toilets are at Ardgartan, with cafés and shops in Arrochar. Watch children closely beside open water. Wear a life jacket if entering the water and avoid alcohol near or in it. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
