Ariundle
Atlantic oakwoods beside the Strontian River shelter mosses, lichens, butterflies and dragonflies. Families wanting a longer woodland walk can explore the Ariundle Trail and look for traces of the charcoal-burning community.
Before you go
The 2.75-mile Ariundle Trail is moderate, with uneven or muddy ground, short steep slopes, bridges and a long boardwalk. Fallen branches are reported on Ceum Na Coille Path, which remains passable with care. Parking charges apply; public toilets are in Strontian. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
