Comrie · Zoo
Spend a few hours with the animals, then let the children loose on the play areas. Auchingarrich near Comrie combines a wildlife park and petting zoo with indoor soft play, outdoor play and mini golf. Bring clothes for being outside, even if the play barn is part of your plan.
The mix of animals and play is the reason to choose Auchingarrich. Younger children can switch between seeing the animals and burning off energy, so you can follow their interest instead of trying to keep them moving around every enclosure.

The Hatchery has a petting zoo with small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks and tortoises. Around the wider park there are farm animals and wildlife, including meerkats, lemurs, otters and wallabies. Let children spend time with the animals that catch their attention; a favourite may be resting or out of view.
The outdoor play park has a sandpit, swings, a zip wire and a climbing frame, with mini golf in a picnic area. Indoor soft play and the tractor play area give you another way to change the pace. Toddlers and primary-age siblings have plenty to choose between, although older children looking for big rides may want a different day.
Buy animal feed only when it is available and follow the staff’s feeding instructions. Booked animal experiences are separate from simply walking around the park; check the animal, age rules and date before promising one. Lamb feeding is something to check for your visit, rather than expect throughout the year.
Leave a few hours for the animals and play, and keep the rest of the day loose if your children like going back to a favourite play area. With a toddler, you can choose a smaller part of the park and stop when they have had enough.
Pack waterproofs and footwear for outdoor play. The soft play and café make useful breaks in showers, but a fully indoor outing is an easier choice for a day of heavy rain. In winter the park has a shorter opening day, so check the hours before planning a late arrival.
Contact the park before paying if you need a particular buggy or wheelchair route. Ask about gradients, surfaces and access to the areas your children want to use, along with accessible toilets and baby changing. That lets you decide which parts of the visit will work for your family.
If your child needs a quieter space or has sensory needs, ask the team about a suitable time and places to take a break. Carers enter free when accompanying an individual. You’ll be asked for proof of carer status or a PIP/ADP letter for the person being accompanied. Check what to bring before travelling.
Dizzy Duck Cafe gives you somewhere to buy hot food, cakes and drinks, and there are picnic areas around the park. Check the café’s food-service hours if lunch is central to your plan; its opening hours and hot-food hours may differ. You can also visit the café without paying to enter the park.
After handling or feeding animals, wash hands before eating.
Dogs can visit some areas, including the hill walk, ponds and café, but cannot enter the main zoo area. Ask the welcome team about permitted routes; contact the park in advance if you have an assistance dog.
Keep Auchingarrich as the main outing if the children want animals and play. There is no need to add another paid attraction just to fill the day. For a different kind of animal visit, use the Scotland-wide comparison guide to choose an aquarium or a larger safari park.
