Cambus o’May
The short Lochside Trail loops around a woodland lochan at Cambus o’May, with dragonflies to look for in season. Families can explore pine, heather and woodland views on a shorter Deeside walk.
Before you go
The half-mile Lochside Trail is moderate, with uneven gravel, short steep slopes, individual rock steps and possible mud. Keep dogs at heel or on a lead to protect ground-nesting birds. Cairngorms fire byelaws ban fires and barbecues from April to September. Parking charges apply; toilets are in Ballater and Aboyne. Watch children closely beside open water. Wear a life jacket if entering the water and avoid alcohol near or in it. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
