Choose Culag Woods for a lower-pressure Assynt walk with more child appeal than a bare viewpoint. Maps, play features, picnic stops and different access points make it easy to turn around when younger legs have had enough.

Buggies and prams
Do not expect every path to suit a buggy. Choose the easiest-looking section on arrival and turn back before rougher or slippery ground.
What families actually do
The simplest visit is a wander from one of the car parks, stopping at play features and picnic tables before turning back. Children can look for leaf-marker posts, bent shoreline trees and wildlife rather than following one must-complete route.
That flexibility is the point. Culag works when a long Assynt day needs movement and fresh air without another big commitment.
Toddlers, prams and path reality
Younger children can enjoy the play and woodland details, but do not assume every path will suit a buggy. Stay on mapped paths and take extra care when surfaces are wet.
A carrier is the safer backup if your child cannot manage uneven or slippery woodland ground. Turn the visit around early rather than pushing for a complete circuit.

Pair Culag with Lochinver itself for food and facilities. Little Assynt is the easier-path comparison, while Clachtoll gives you beach and Iron Age history on a separate fair-weather outing.
Choose Culag over a viewpoint when children need to do something rather than simply get out of the car.
