Ferrycroft
The gentle Lochside Trail runs through Ferry Wood to ponds and the shore of Little Loch Shin. Families can use the easy woodland routes for a picnic, wildlife watching or a walk to the remains of an ancient broch.
Before you go
The one-mile Lochside Trail is described as suitable for families and pushchairs. It is mostly flat gravel with short moderate slopes and two gates. The separate Ord Hill route is strenuous. The council-run visitor centre has its own opening arrangements, so check before relying on its café or toilets. Watch children closely beside open water. Wear a life jacket if entering the water and avoid alcohol near or in it. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
