Opening times
Daily all year
The Hermitage near Dunkeld is a free woodland walk to Ossian’s Hall and Black Linn Falls, with £5 parking but few on-site facilities. For families, the main decision is whether to use the wider, easier track or tackle the rougher riverside route, while allowing for uneven ground, slippery rocks and the fast-flowing River Braan.
Best for Families who want a scenic walk near Dunkeld, older toddlers in carriers or sturdy buggies, and children motivated by waterfalls rather than play equipment

Visit length
1-2.5 hours
Last entry
No separate last-entry cutoff is published; the Trust lists the site as open daily year-round.
It gives you a high-payoff short walk: big trees, river drama and Ossian's Hall without needing a full-day hike or a formal attraction ticket.
Access
Use the wider track to Ossian's Hall if you need the easier route. The riverside option has steps, uneven ground and slipperier footing.
Toilets
The official Hermitage planning pages do not list toilets or baby changing, so it is best to use facilities in Dunkeld before or after the walk.
