Jupiter Artland
Jupiter Artland is an outdoor sculpture park near Edinburgh. Children can follow a long woodland route past large artworks, but this is a walking day rather than a playground or rides visit. The MAKE studio has free materials when open. Most of the visit is outside, paths can be uneven, and picnics are not allowed.

Our family take
Choose Jupiter Artland for a creative outdoor day where children can explore large-scale art in the landscape and use free materials in the MAKE studio when it is open. The walk itself is a major part of the experience.
- Terrain. Paths are natural and uneven, can be affected by weather, and do not provide step-free access to every sculpture.
- Food. Picnics are not permitted. Use the café, Silverstreak food outlet or kiosk when operating.
- Dogs. Pet dogs need a ticket and must stay on a lead. Service and hearing dogs are admitted free; only assistance dogs may enter the galleries and café.

- Opening
- Hours and last entry change with the season. Check the official ticket calendar for your date before travelling.
- Tickets
- Paid admission for adults and older children; children aged four and under currently have a free day ticket. Book online or buy at the box office, and check current rates and dates before setting off. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Allow
- Allow 2–4 hours. Jupiter estimates about two hours to walk the full collection, before food, galleries or MAKE time.
- Parking
- Free parking. The main car park is about 300m from the Steadings; designated disabled parking is about 100m away.
- Getting there
- Bonnington House Steadings, Wilkieston EH27 8BY. Use the signed B7015 entrance, not Bonnington Village.
- Paths and access
- Natural, uneven paths can be weather affected, and not every sculpture has an accessible route. The café and galleries have ramp access.
- Food
- Picnics are not permitted. Check which on-site café or food outlet is operating for your date.

What children actually do
The main activity is following paths to discover sculpture in the landscape. Works appear among trees, in clearings and across meadow, which gives children a reason to keep moving rather than asking them to spend hours in a conventional gallery.
The MAKE studio has materials children can use at no extra charge when it is open. Check the programme for your date if making is an important part of the visit.
Walking, pushchairs and access
Allow enough time for a substantial outdoor walk. The venue estimates around two hours for the whole collection, and the surfaces can be muddy or uneven after poor weather.
Robust pushchairs and outdoor wheelchairs are the better fit. The café and galleries have ramp access, but the sculpture route is not fully step-free and does not reach every artwork.
Food and family facilities
Picnics are not allowed. Check which café, food outlet or kiosk is operating on your date, especially if children need predictable meal times.
Toilets, an accessible toilet and baby changing are listed. The main parking area involves a walk to the Steadings, while designated disabled spaces are closer.
