Choose Lochbroom when rain, wind or tired legs rule out another outdoor stop. The baby pool and Family Fun sessions make it a useful option for younger children staying in Ullapool or travelling the NC500.
- One adult with young children. Public swims have stricter supervision ratios than designated family swims. Check the rules for your children’s ages before setting off.

Make it work for your family
Choose the activity before you travel
Start with the pool timetable for swimming, or the activity timetable for Family Fun. A family swim, inflatable session or soft-play slot may only run at particular times.
This matters if you are fitting a swim around a ferry, a drive or lunch in Ullapool. Allow time to change as well as time in the pool.
Children, supervision and inflatables
The baby pool is the clearest toddler feature. For a public swim, children aged 0–3 need one adult each; children aged 4–7 can swim with one adult for two children. The policy lists one adult per child for a mixed group of under-4s and older children.
Designated family swims allow one adult for two children under eight, only during the listed family-swim time. If you are bringing several young children alone, choosing the right session can make the difference between getting in and having to change your plans.
The supervising person must be at least 16 and able to swim. Stay close to your children; non-swimmers and weak swimmers must stay in the shallow end.
The Eliminator inflatable is for ages 8–14, and children must be able to swim one length. It is not a toddler activity. Check the current timetable for session details.
Family Fun soft play
Family Fun uses soft-play equipment in the games hall and is aimed at younger children. It is an activity session rather than a permanent soft-play centre.
Book through High Life Highland and check the session details before travelling.
Changing, parking and access
Poolside changing is mixed, with individual cubicles, shared showers and disabled changing options. On the dry side there are male and female changing and shower cubicles, plus a dedicated disabled changing and shower room.
There is on-site parking, one accessible space, cycle racks and a nearby bus stop. The centre has accessible toilets and a hearing loop. Wheelchair access to the first-floor gym is by stair lift, so contact the centre about any access or changing support you need.

How to use it in an NC500 day
Plan a swim or Family Fun session around food or harbour time in Ullapool. It makes more sense as part of your time in town than as a full-day attraction.
Corrieshalloch Gorge south of Ullapool and Knockan Crag on the road north are outdoor alternatives for better weather. Choose them for the route you are already taking.
