Nethercroy
Woodland paths and wildflower meadows surround Croy Hill's surviving sections of the Antonine Wall. Families can combine a walk through the Roman frontier with looking for butterflies and woodland wildlife.
Before you go
A path enters the wood from the picnic area at Auchinstarry Marina. Other paths lead in from Croy and Dullatur. Toilets and refreshments are at the marina, rather than throughout the woodland. Watch children closely beside open water. Wear a life jacket if entering the water and avoid alcohol near or in it. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
