Opening times
Open daily from 10:00 AM. Closing times are usually 5:00 PM from Feb-Oct, 4:00 PM in Nov and Jan, and 3:30 PM in Dec. Closed 25 Dec and 1 Jan.
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a large free-entry botanic garden where families can wander outdoor paths, look around the planting and mature trees, stop for a cafe break, and enjoy a slower-paced Edinburgh outing without booking tickets or following a fixed route. It works especially well when you want fresh air and space between busier city sights. The main thing to know is that the Glasshouses are currently closed, so this is much less useful as a wet-weather indoor backup than older guides suggest.
Best for City breaks, buggy-friendly walks, mixed ages, calmer family stops between busier Edinburgh attractions, and families who want a free outdoor option with cafe and seating support

Last entry
The visitor page focuses on daily opening and seasonal closing times rather than a separate last-entry cutoff.
It gives you a free, flexible way to slow the day down in Edinburgh. Rather than a formal tour or hands-on attraction, this is a place to walk, look around, pause for food or seating, and let children move at an easier pace in a greener setting.
Access
The access page documents marked accessible routes, mostly tarmac paths, frequent benches, and wheelchair or mobility scooter loans.
