Why visit

It gives families a heritage railway outing with a fixed return journey, short station stops and a clear start-to-finish structure that is easier to plan than a longer outdoor day.

Access and toilet planning

The rear Dalfaber Road car park is the easier buggy and accessibility route because there is no accessible route to Platform 3 from the front entrance. Toilet planning also matters: Aviemore has an accessible toilet on Platform 3, Boat of Garten does not have wheelchair-accessible toilets, and there is no accessible toilet on board.

Booking and steam note

Online booking for standard travel closes at 9am on the day, although the railway says some remaining tickets may still be available from station ticket offices. Steam haulage is also not guaranteed, so some services may be diesel-worked instead.
