Sutherland's Grove
The short Giant Fir Trail runs beneath tall Douglas firs beside a burn. Families can look for the tree struck by lightning, spot woodland birds and stop for a picnic without choosing the steeper gorge routes.
Before you go
Path works may close the upper car park and intermittently close the Giant Fir and Gorge trails. The Troll Trail is diverted away from timber traffic. Follow safety signs and avoid felling areas. When open, the quarter-mile Giant Fir Trail is wide and generally flat with gentle gradients. Parking charges apply. Watch children closely beside open water. Wear a life jacket if entering the water and avoid alcohol near or in it. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
