Tain Hill
A short forest trail climbs steadily through pinewoods to the Pulpit Rock viewpoint. Families can look for small woodland birds and enjoy views across the firths on a smaller hill outing.
Before you go
The one-mile Pulpit Rock Trail is moderate, with uneven gravel and some fairly steep slopes. Follow the forest-walk signs from the A9; the nearest postcode is partway along Quarry Road rather than at the car park. Toilets are in Tain. Check for ticks after your visit and remove them promptly.
